This hybrid is quite common in forest lakes in my district. The UV pattern is as distinct as it is unusual, formed by the high UV reflectance of a circle of transformed anthers. The flowers of the parent species (which overlap in their geographic range) are frequented by a number of pollinating insects, so the existence of a hybrid is not surprising.
